The Nvidia equivalent is probably the 770 OP posted but it's going to be about double the money and just because you had issues doesn't mean anything. I had issues with Nvidia in the past. shite happens.

The 280 and 290 are the most bang for the buck on the market right now. Several people here have or have had them with no issues. I currently have a 290 and haven't had the first problem with it.

With a few exceptions, I feel like most releases are optimized for Intel/Nvidia platforms. That wasn't always the case when I built my first desktop, but it seems that way now.
