I know nothing about this, so please answer a stupid question for me.
How are they able to tell the difference between torrents and streaming from like Netflix or Hulu? My son and I stream movies and shows daily and never had a problem, but I'd be pissed if my internet got shut down for a service I pay for.

Copyright owners place trackers onto these torrent files. When you download a torrent file with a tracker on it, your IP address is sent to the owner of the copyright.
