You will need to start by taking the excitement out of the hunt. If that means going to the park where there are no guns, calls, four wheeler/boat rides, and of course you, her master, won't be excited either. Sit means sit. Don't move just sit. She needs to sit still and watch the ducks. When she realizes there is nothing to get excited about I guarantee she won't whine. After several trips she realizes the game hasn't changed and won't be nearly as excited. Here is the hard part. Take her to the blind. No guns. No buddies. No calls. You guessed it! Sit means sit. Just sit and no moving. You should see where this is heading and it will not be a quick fix. Dogs learn behavior through habit. Your dog is in the habit of whining while excited about the hunt. In my experience dogs that whine are a ball of fire when actually released to hunt. So don't be afraid that these drills will kill that fire. Remember, what you tolerate you condone. Your dog didn't start whining like this one day all of the sudden. She worked up to a point that you have now deemed unacceptable. She will need to learn a new behavior. In the off season you can set up mock hunting situations to continue the conditioning.
