Not sure what you have been watching because Gordon is in fact a damn good run blocker. Its literally the only reason hes out there. This is what analysts have said about him:

I agree he hasnt been hit in stride at all... Hell hes only seen like 3 targets all year long. But Smith can move. In fact hes much more of a WR than he is a TE. He was a WR in high school and was split out over 90% of the time. Hes basically an overgrown WR. He can move and change directions just fine.
