The Pacific captured the feel of the war in that region perfectly.
There was no glory in the fighting, no liberation of cities...just death...and the next island.
With BOB you had a group of guys who were freeing europe so the bond was tighter....

I've said it here before - The Pacific suffered from trying to tell 3 stories in one series. It just didn't work.
I think they could have maybe put the Leicke and Sledge books together into one series successfully. But the Basilone part was of a different tone. I think his story would have been better as a stand alone movie.
