The Colts dodged two bullets with the first pick in the NFL draft. They took Peyton Manning instead of Ryan Leaf, and Andrew Luck instead of Robert Griffin III. Can you imagine how screwed that franchise would have been without Manning or Luck?

And drafting a QB first overall is harder than you think. There's a lot of pressure on that pick and you're strapping your franchise on the back of an unproven 22 year old for the next 4 years. frick that pick up and it almost doesn't matter what else you do. A bunch of people are losing their jobs.

If the Colts had not picked Manning there is no telling what the franchise would have done to find a QB. So there is the probability that they would not have had the worst record, and chance, to pick Luck.
