Ah, got it. That tells me he was vastly overinsured and was pretty fortunate the original was stolen.

My apartment got broken into and that was one of the things that was taken. So I was fortunate from the viewpoint of getting to upgrade for cheap

But yes, that was poorly worded. Basically insurance would have given me like $600 or something if I didn't replace it, but would give me almost $1500 if I did replace it. I chose to replace it, so they gave me the $1500 and I just paid the $150ish difference to upgrade to the 256gb i7 model.
