NO but its a lot harder to go grab a good QB from Texas away from the Texas schools, or grab one from California away from the Cali schools.

This is LSU.. They should be able to recruit from ANY state... Face It Miles is HORRIBLE at recruiting Qb's..........

OK, so we passed on Johnny Football and Dak Prescott...our coaches did not want them as QBs.

they ended up at Texas A&M and Mississippi St, everyone passed on them. And Dak wouldn't' have worked here either, he was made for that spread option.

Shepard was considered the top quarterback of the high school class of 2009 by both Rivals.com[2] and Scout.com[3] before converting to wide receiver upon arriving at LSU.

..how much confidence do we have in our coaches judgement of QBs.

Wrong, we switched him to WR a year after he got here. We were probably the only school that offered him as a QB. I had a friend who worked for the football team filming practice, and he has a fricking weak arms is all he said. Like jennings he looked good slinging deep balls in high school. But when those throwing windows get smaller it wasn't going to cut it.

When has that ever been true?

90% of out players have come from Louisiana, Fl and Texas.
Saban, lived off of players from LA, MS, Tx and FL.

The ONLY reason LSU can really compete year in an year out on the recruiting trail is because Louisiana is so talent rich.

But we haven't had a ton of QBs, and it is hard to pull QBs out of Big 12 and PAC 12 country, where they can play against air, and put of Video Game numbers.

Because we can rely on talent from Louisiana.

1. local teams have an advantage over team almost an entire continent away. We rely on that, so does every school
2. Why come and play real defenses in the SEC when you can just play against air in the Big 12 or PAC 12 and put up big numbers.

the Top QB in the country decommited from Alabama, for UCLA. And they are the #1 program int he country, and regularly go out of state. IT just isn't easy, especially with QBs, to really pull out of your target ares.

Versus Lee, Metts, Flynn.Russell. Only Lee was recruited by les.
so if Miles didnt recruit Zach how did he end up playing at LSU? did he just run on to the field one day?

and before someone says "oh but he was a UGA recruit and juco player", maybe they can explain why his first 8 games as a stater were average to bad (7 TDs, 4 INTs, 56 percent completion percentage). why did he improve? did he forget what he learned at the juco 2 years earlier and then suddenly remember it?

Mett is an outlier.

A dozen QB's have been recruited to LSU since Miles has been here, and LSU has had one QB who threw for over 2,600 yards.

Interesting, Mett was a stature, yet we keep trying to make mobile QB's become good pocket passers and it's not working. Both Jennings and JJ were decent running QB's, but both didn't really understand when it's appropriate to run or not.

LSU has had a dozen QB's commit or sign in the past 9 years and we've had one real success.

Eta: verdict still out on Harris. Looks like maybe he can sling aka Moo st. Game.

You have Mobile and DT QB confusion. Flynn and JJ were actually "mobile QBs" .

I know this topic has been covered a million times but even with a slightly below average qb like Lee was it just seemed like the offense was better.
Better than with who, Jennings and Harris, the only DT QBs you've listed?
Lee was ok vs an avg D, but dismal under pressure and disguised covers.
Seems you suspiciously leave out RP?

Having a qb that can just sling it around like metts, Russell, and Flynn did was successful.

I would say these 3 were successful

Way easier to put up great numbers in other conferences. And if you look at the stats it is obvious.

Also why leave you home state when you don't have to?

You are a fan form 1971, take your alzheimer's medication and try and remember the last time LSU was grabbing elite players from all around the country consistently. Was that ever happening, or was out team always built predominantly from Louisiana players, and almost exclusively from players from the Southeast.

It seems that the QB's we recruit, never adjust to the speed of college ball.
