The Theory of Everything

About to watch this...
Despite everything I feared...
I mean life isn't that simple or easy...and especially not for him...it's not all cupcakes and apple pie.
I most often hate biopics...because they ignore the messy parts.
What's her angle? Explore that. Who is this woman? He says I'm dying in a year and 3 months later they get married? What kind of gold-digger?
The voice belonged to a nurse who used to care for Prof Hawking; she parted company with him, reluctantly, after Elaine became the second Mrs Hawking in 1995.
"She is the reason I left. It’s the reason everyone leaves. It’s impossible to reconcile the way she treated Stephen with the ethics of our profession. I don’t want to say anymore because it brings back painful memories."
It is a sentiment shared by almost all Prof Hawking’s friends and family; relief that he is now finally free of Elaine, and distress that it has taken so long; the couple have been together for 17 years.
It is a relationship that, almost from the beginning, has provoked a storm of controversy - and suspicion - the wheelchair-bound Prof Hawking, 64, who has suffered from motor neurone disease since the age of 22, and the "controlling, manipulative and bullying" (the words of another former employee) Elaine.
Because for years there have been shocking rumours of violence and abuse against the vulnerable scientist - mental as well as physical - supported by his own children no less.
And they are selling this as a Johnny Cash romance biopic?
...anyhoo...here I go...I bet she'll be all cute and cudley and just like him for the guy he is.
What happened to the first Mrs? Who is the second Mrs?
Who is the 3rd Mrs?
Who cares about the romance...why does he become who is he is?...
How come biopics never really hit the tecnical parts?
One day Johnny Cash couldn't sing or play guitar (well, he could never really play guitar) and then the next day he could.
How come they never show the work involved in doing something great in biopics...everyone just wakes up a genius and writes the great American Novel.
Despite everything I feared...

Depicting Stephen Hawking as this smiling, pathologically beatific quip machine where nothing changes but the wheelchair saves us the difficulty of imagining him as a real person.

It's disappointing to see Hawking's life slotted into the conventions of the biopic genre, from a meet-cute at a Cambridge party to a centerstage ovation for our genius hero.

The Theory of Everything is surely inspirational, but it glosses over some ugly chapters in Stephen and Jane's relationship.

Surely there's more to Hawking's life than this.

Corn syrup nonsense.
But girls will probably love it.
Sort of A Walk to Remember meets A Brilliant Mind...
But overall, a sort of pointless movie.
Didn't tell me anything...Theory of Everything? This film needed a theory of providing something for the viewer besides a Disney-like slideshow of "That's my life!"

Hawking is a tool. I won't watch a movie that pretends that he isn't.
