apologies to tigerwise; i made fun of the $80 smart vents at lowes, but it looks like this company is providing a much more useful version of the same..and the vents are half the price:

this is a much more complete solution than the odd random zwave vent and much cheaper to boot.
i especially like how it 'follows you around' and changes the temp to your personal preference wherever you go in the house.
