In college , I often got depressed after an LSU loss. Basketball or football , it did not matter. I was filled with depression and pity. Maybe it was the 20 something testosterone levels in my body. I took college sports so seriously.
1/09/12 killed me emotionally. I could not sleep properly for a week. I had to talk to myself compassionately and understand that kids playing a game is not worth killing myself over. I try to keep an emotional distance from the outcome of big games that LSU is involved in. LSU has won big. 6 titles in baseball and 2 in modern era in football. If watching those teams win did not provide me with lasting joy and happiness, then winning another title will not do it either. Temporary joy..yes. Everlasting elation...no. I must accept whatever happens because I have no control in the outcome.
