Scott Brown gave it everything he had up here. He was relentless in his travels around the state and had more ads up than Shaheen did the last 3 weeks of the campaign. He debated very well, made no gaffes and was consistent all the way through. The Shaheen ads were top-heavy on the "carpetbagger" theme (Shaheen is from Missouri but has been here 40 years) and exit polls showed that was the difference-maker in the end. The Dem incumbent Governor won by 5.2 points, and Shaheen won by 3.2 points. No other Republican in NH (except Ayotte, who already holds the other Senate seat) could have come close to winning Shaheen's seat. Scott Brown did the best he could and was not lacking in effort. I'm right here in the middle of the state and I know that to be the case.

The gain was expected by me, as I posted on more than one occasion on here prior to the election results coming in.
