Greg Olsen's fumble recovery

In the 3rd or 4th quarter last night, Olsen picked up a fumble recovery and then ran for a negative 5 or 10 yards. He could have just fallen on the fumble.
Should he get negative rushing yardage for that? If the answer is no (and I'm sure it is), why is that?

Because he wasn't handed the ball off for a rushing attempt.

Would it be the same if he picked up a fumble and ran forward for 10 yards?

When this happened, I was thinking he should just pass it out of bounds. Pass the line of scrimmage and out of the pocket, of course

I sure hope that goes as a stat correction I lost by 0.6 points to the guy that had Olsen.

Heard that. The wifey tied her game and her opponent had Olsen. I had never thought about fumble rushing yards so I wasn't sure if a stat correction may be appropriate.

Pretty sure it officially goes down as fumble return yardage.
