nd since this penalty was called on Alexander (I think the call was horrible), I wonder why #57 for Bama wasn't flagged for a late hit on Fournette on the very next play. His forward progress was stopped at the 19 yard line, driven back by 3 or 4 Bama players, then 57 comes in and hits him around the 26 or 27 yard line. The whistle was blown, the play was dead, seems pretty cut and dried to me. If Vadal's shove was a penalty, this play was just as bad in my opinion.
I had an issue with that play as well, though for a different reason. To me, the play was not blown dead soon enough. He was clearly stopped, forward momentum was done and he was completely wrapped up. Why allow him to be stood up and gang tackled going back 10+ yards?

Listen to how long it takes the crew to blow a whistle here. Fournette is nearly 10 yards back before they blow it...before then all you're hearing is crowd noise.
I dunno...but I have a hunch that had they eventually stripped the ball after having him stopped cold and pushing him backwards for 10 yards before whistles were blown, the fumble would have stood.

quote:Yes, I believe your are right in thinking that. Alot of posters have called some of us "whiners" and said let it go, LSU got beat fair and square, the refs didn't affect the outcome of the game. The truth is, the refs did influence the end of the game and most of it favored bama.
