From what I've seen, just take the TestMasters class at LTRC and you're pretty much guaranteed to pass.

How much did you study for the FE?

Holy shite, no.

When I took it, everybody said you need 200 hours. I logged my hours and stopped at 120. I even kept studying even after I felt I was ready just to bring my hours up, but I just couldn't go anymore because I was re-hashing the same shite over & over. I passed, and thought the test was really easy. If you need 300 hours to get ready for it, I feel sorry for you.

The new set-up is horseshite, btw. I think it'd be a lot easier to take it closer to graduating. Generally, you've spent 4 years focusing on one specific thing that you do at your job, and much of your academic knowledge hasn't been exercised since you were in school. The value of PE licensure has been heavily diminished in recent years. I know some real dumbasses that have theirs.

300 hrs of studying for the PE? Whoa! I didn't come close to that. Knowing about how much I studied and if that is the "average", I would love to hear legitimate estimates on the high end. If you have to study that long for the Civil exam then your job isn't very related to CE.
