Isn't that funny how people hold athletes to higher standards than they hold themselves?

If you're talking about a top 10 player, you take the sure thing/top 10 guy unless the rookie is a Lebron-like can't miss, once in a decade type "guarantee". Wiggins is definitely not that.

And I disagree with getting the best current player at all costs.

It's not about whether or not Kevin Love is a top 10 guy. It's not about whether he makes them a better team because he obviously does. It's about whether you even need to add a top 10 guy when his production will undoubtedly take a hit playing next to Lebron. It's about what you're actually gaining. I don't think the net gain was worth it if it doesn't result in a championship this year. And they aren't winning a championship this year. But that's just my opinion.

I think you make a move like that if it's going to pay off immediately. If not, keep Wiggins and build for the near future instead of the present. Cavs are just not good enough of a team for the Love move to pay off the way they wanted it to.

Plus there's the possibility that Love turns out to be a very expensive rental. Then what do they have to show for all of this?

It's so strange, it really is. It's like people forget that these are just dudes playing a game for a living.

These same guys that go out of their way to criticize for things like this, doing what is best for him, are the guys who wouldn't hesitate to leave their current employer in a heartbeat for a better opportunity/huge raise because it's better for them and their family. Nothing wrong with that, but at some point you gotta stop and realize, these are actual people with actual families too, and it's ok for them to look out for themselves and put themselves first in some of these situations.

It worked with Bosh. In what situation would you never not need a top 10 guy? This is basically 1 of 2 teams that will go to the Finals, you absolutely have to play for the now.

I don't necessarily think they're the best team but based on the conferences, I think they have the best odds. And even if they don't win it this season, if they do re-up Love, I don't see how this isnt worth it, especially to keep Wiggins, who we just aren't sure what he'll be.

That's definitely the wildcard in play there. Not sure what their cap situation is like, but they'd probably retool to make a run at someone else in a couple of seasons after that, i'd guess.
