We went with Toledo. Bought on the La side though mostly because my whole family all have their camps together and we found 3 acres within a mile by water from them. We looked at the Tx side and it seemed you could get more house/property for your $ there however the damn taxes were so high on the TX side. Louisiana has an assessment freeze I think once you hit 65 (could be wrong on the age) where my taxes wont go up once I hit that age. We were just worried at what taxes might be later on after we paid for our house and still have 5-10k per year in taxes. Cane river in Natchitoches has some great fishing and very nice properties as well
