This is one of my favorite parts of the movie. It's not lazy writing at all. You think this was done unintentionally?
Murph is essentially telling Cooper to go start life over. There's nothing but the past and pain here for you, and you already sacrificed enough.
She gave him the opportunity to walk away. She knew and understood her dad perfectly. It was essentially the ultimate gesture of forgiveness.

Was it? I got the sense that she was still holding a grudge. (Redheads hold them forever..trust me).
The scene was very hard to interpret.

Thank you. Precisely. It isn't difficult to understand. She is an old and wise woman who has seen many things in her lifetime. She understood that (1) her dad had in his heart an unquenchable thirst to explore, to pioneer, to be at the edge and (2) that they had nothing in common anymore, that she had grown old without him, and that all that she needed to do before she died was tell him that she love him and that she understood why he did what he did and that she had her blessing (as another poster said) for having done what he did. It was vitally important to both of them to have that moment. It did not need to be long, it only needed to be shared. Afterward, she had her family to comfort her and share in their grief. She didn't want Coop to deal with that. He had already dealt with too much.
