Why do people keep saying this? We lost to the cow lovers by less than a touchdown. Is it because we seemed a outmatched at the time? Does the committee take that into consideration?

Of course. And most of the ones who watched that game came away seeing LSU getting dominated for 55 minutes and likely weren't even around watching when LSU scored some late to "dress up" the final score.

You've got to be kidding. Mississippi State beat us every bit as badly at Auburn did. The final score did not reflect how one-sided it was.
Based on watching that game at Tiger Stadium, I told my cohorts that LSU would win the New Mexico State game and that would be it. I am very happy to say that I was wrong; but, I seen nothing since then that suggests to me that LSU deserves to play for a national championship this year.
