when I talked about the tenacity and drive, I was talking about talia. bruce wayne struggled because he was injured and the stuff about not being afraid, whatever.

talia was just a vengeful and angry child determined to make it...it's impressive that she made it, not just bruce (and it is less impressive she made it) we're talking about a fricking jump, a dangerous one...she didn't fricking fly into the sky

yeah, we are talking about a jump and the problem with the whole device was it was a physical barrier in the middle of what fancies itself a gritty, more realistic, tale of a superhero with human capabilities that he pushes to the limits. i'm glad if it rang true to you and you were able to enjoy the metaphor for what it was probably intended. i was not able to do the same when i thought about what that must have looked like if a child made the leap.
