I have both 870 Express Compact and Compact Jr for my boys. The Compact was a little long for my 10 year old so I bought a Compact Jr. I did have to put a Cheek-Eez pad on it because the stock was hitting his cheek pretty good. He shoots the hell out of it.
I considered cutting down the regular compact stock but was concerned about weight distribution (I guess you could put some lead shot or something in the buttstock to compensate)
