Where in the article did it say the "lost" applications were incomplete or inaccurate? That seems like your assumption, which I guess is fine since the State has refused to comment on it.

Applications get lost. Things happen, but 40,000-50,000, and all from a particular registration drive? That's fishy.

I was not addressing the claims of 40,000 - 50,000 lost applications. I was addressing the claims of the NAACP that applications were being rejected due to incomplete, or inaccurate, information.

Yes, claims of lost applications should be investigated. Any malfeasance should be punished, whether it involves registration, actual voting,custodianship of cast ballots, or counting of votes.
