I get what you are saying and I agree...however, I think this becomes a self fulfilling prophecy with Miles and his QB's... (Mett for one year being the outlier), and now you begin to accept that the QB is not an essential part of the game plan, and you plan around him, not for him.

If you accept the premise that the QB is not an essential part of the gameplan, but is just in fact another player on the field, the end result is what we see here...either the QB never gets developed into a true field general and struggles at the position, or the gameplan never revolves around him and we see the one dimensional stuff we have seen from Miles for many years now with JJ and now Jennings.

This is so stupid. Like the bama offense always revolved around AJ? BS.....it's a winning strategy, especially when you have a young qb that is still developing confidence....LSU now has the ABILITY to throw if need be....on Saturday, night, they did not need to throw much...just enough to keep Ole Miss off balance.

What BS!

You have to brain dead to think this way less than a year removed from Mett throwing the ball all over the fricking field.

LSU has thrown the ball when LSU has had a QB capable of throwing the ball without it biting us in the arse. We threw it in 2008 even when we shouldn't. Russell threw it in 2005, 2006. Flynn in 2007. Lee in 2008. Mett in the last part of 2012 and all of 2013.

Anyone saying QBs haven't been essential for Miles is nuts.

what about jamarcus? flynn? perriloux? lee before the bama game? mett is not the lone "outlier"

one dimensional stuff
I've addressed this many times. these characterizations are irrelevant. in the big picture, lsu is winning more than teams who employ alternate offense philosophies. certain people just refuse to acknowledge it

I dont think youre giving the HC enough credit. He has recruited every position including coaches superbly.
QB is the problem, for Miles. Its not like he's not turned over every rock looking for a good one to lead his terrific teams.
Mettenberger up in Kansas via Georgia neutral ground- Miles fought them all off and got this guy. I dont know how but he got him.
Went to Los Angeles, Rettig, Georgia again Jennings, even took a shot on a Gump/AU reject in Alabama with Rivers hoping to hit the lottery with a brother in NFL.
Then did something that will haunt Miles forever and that was take Patrick Miller's scholarship offer away and give it to Gummer Kiel up in Indiana. That right there should show anyone that Miles is willing to do almost anything for a decent QB and feels the need to do this for his teams.

But u dont hear a word about why the High School coaches arent developing QB's anymore in this state.
Harris gets developed and guess what, he's wearing P&G.

Big Time 4 and 5* QB's arent lining up at LSU's door. Why leave the state if u arent going to be the focal point of the offense?
Louisiana High School coaches should be taking a little flack for not developing any QB's anymore. Its not like we are lacking in available athletes, some of these guys could be big time QB's, but instead are playing other positions most notably WR.
