We'd need to win out, which means we'd beat Bama, giving us the tie breaker. AU would have to lose twice more and OM would have to lose once. Oh, and State would have to lose 3 games. It's possible, but very unlikely.

Why would State have to lose 3?

if they lose 2,likely to Bama and Ole Miss who LSU would have beaten both if they win out.

That's a common misconception. They only have to lose three if LSU and State were the only teams in contention.

Remember how Texas beat Oklahoma but Oklahoma won the tie-breaker in 2008? If there weren't a third team involved, Oklahoma would have needed a better record than Texas to prevail. But they beat them because it was a three-way tiebreaker.

State would only have to lose twice.
