They hardly smell at all while growing. You'd have to stick your nose into the cones. At least that's my experience with the ones I have growing.

Well, as you can see from some pics, there is an Entergy servitude behind the house. Right behind the fence is some overgrown brush that i'm going to clear out. I plan on making a new back fence, with a gate, and planting a garden. Hops will be grown. Want to grow cascade and centennial.
