Obama is definitely a liberal.
The trouble is that the republicans are liberals too. They endorse socialism and thus it becomes "conservative".
War, in the 20th century, was a democrat thing. Wilson. FDR, LBJ etc. Only the gulf war was started by a republican. The neocons have taken over foreign policy and run republican and democrat administrations alike. War--despite the author's implication--is not a long time characteristic of republicans.
Gosh I wish Barry Goldwater was still with us.
