Trying to talk my pops out of buying a boat. He just moved back there and is wanting to buy one something bad. I was talking to him last night about boat clubs and he sounds interested but I don't know of any in that area to recommend.

do you have any experience with them? I saw they have a bunch of locations but what are the quality of their boats etc.?

Limited experience but the times I've used them (with friends), it was a great experience. the boat is waiting on the water, loaded with gas. You hop in, go and return. they clean and fill up and charge your card.
We fished a 32 Grady white. It was in great shape. This has been several years ago, so I can't speak to the quality now.

I was wondering about the times you can leave out and come back in the boats mainly.
It wouldn't make any sense for my pops to purchase a new boat. Plus, the club is like a mile down the bay from where he lives so it's very convenient.Think they even offer a shuttle for picking him up and dropping him off.
Pretty cool. Think the initial membership fee is like 5 grand though.

That's still less than buying anything new , he will probably spend that on stuff just getting a used boat up to good shape.

It would if you promise to take care of it
I was reading through some reviews and you cannot take the boat anytime you like. There are limits, obviously that's not "Freedom".

I agree with Motorboat....Freedom is the way to go.
They are out of Sportsman Marina. They have deck boats, fishing boats as well as pontoon boats. They are very nice boats as I know a few people that are in the club. The price varies per month - $199 is the base membership, if you upgrade you get extended times (early pick up, late drop off) basically pick of the fleet. It is the way to go if you do not want to own.
