No problem with having a great running attack. But when teams stack 8 or 9 in the box, you have to burn them. It is that simple.

agreed. mett did it last year. that's why LSU had a 1400 yard rusher as well.
teams would stack the box, mett would make them back off, then the running game would get going.

this is the most accurate thing said today.
gus malzhan and dan mullen aren't predictable. when you are thinking run, they have the ability to pass or run and vice versa.
they take what the defense gives them, therefore they set the tone. if the defense puts 8 or 9 in the box, they have groomed their teams to make a defense pay for that.
sure it's good to 'establish' the run, but another way to establish the run is to throw the ball effectively. that softens them up, as we all know.

it should be that simple but, you cant fix stupid...it should be balanced, we are not balanced at all, and were not balanced because we have a one QB that throws like edward scissorhands and another that is fresh out of high school with a rocket for an arm...at least the future looks bright though...I just question miles decision making capabilities for next year....Brandon Harris should start from the beginning and he will need lots of reps over the next 4 games...

Troy Aikman said during the Saints broadcast that they routinely ran against 8-man fronts. He said that if they hadn't, Emmit Smith wouldn't be the all-time rushing leader.
I do agree with you that we need to be less predictable on 1st down. Stangely, against Auburn in our 1st 3 series, we ran up the middle on 1st down and got 6-8 yards each play. The problem was on 2nd down...
