How about all the people that's happened to not in the Quarter

I've witnessed 3 muggings, 2 shootings, I've been held up...when it happens and you see it. If you're the victim or not, it happened...more than just the direct victims think it's dangerous...I'm not saying it's like hanging out in central city, but it's the biggest money maker NOLA has, the centerpiece of tourism...should be the rarest occurrence ever.

I've said my piece. don't live there anymore, not my problem

For the amount of people that come in and out of the area, it may well be. Does anyone have any figures on the amount of crimes compared to the amount of people that go there?

I've been to nola quite a bit and I don't venture off of Bourbon or Canal at night, but what is the solution to something like this?

Since these things are so damn common, would it be possible for "sting operations" where they have undercover officers walk alone in plane clothes with a group of police officers trailing him. If they walk around from 2-4 am long enough they are bond to try and get robbed a few times. This would at least put the scum bags on alert and maybe think twice before doing theses things. I mean honestly there is nothing in place to stop these things.

I know the simple answer is probably the NOPD is way to corrupt to even attempt something like this, nor do they seem to care.
