Stream freezing when hooking up laptop to TV via HDMI

Trying to make a long story short here…
When I have a streaming video on my laptop and I try to hook it up to my TV via an HDMI cord, the stream freezes and won’t play. The kicker is, it only does so for 1 website, my cable. So the YouTubes and whatever other sites work fine when streaming to my TV.
I have a very basic cable package(actually got it for some crazy deal at $2/month lol). But, and I don’t know if I’m supposed to access this or not, when I go my cable provider’s(BrightHouse) website to watch live, I have access to 100s of channels, the same package I used to have when I had regular cable.
So the dilemma is, I don’t want to call my cable company to see if they know why it’s happening and risk losing access to all these channels. But it would be a HUGE plus to be able to have any of these streams going on my laptop and then be able to stream them to my TV.
Any suggestions? I’ve tried having the stream going, then hooking up the HDMI. I’ve tried hooking up the HDMI first, then refreshing or logging out and back in to the website. Nothing seems to work, as soon as it’s hooked up to the TV, the stream freezes.
Thanks in advance

Have you tried a new browser?

Good call. I use Chrome. I'll try the regular IE when I get home and see how that goes.

Also try changing your DNS servers in your router or laptop to use Goggle's DNS rather than the one the cable company uses. By swapping these that rules out your ISP blocking a certain website.

It's very easy. Just swap your 2 DNS entries for the 2 Google provides

Does it have to be hdmi? Would another connection work?
Hook desktop to tv?

Just as an FYI, there's also an app for my cable provider, and the stream works fine if I'm screen mirroring the app from my Samsung phone to my Samsung TV. Since that works, I'd think the laptop to tv should work as well.
