From experience, Vegas has a ton of jobs you could get to pay the bills with no experience until you find something.

Valet, waiter, sportsbook ticket guy, etc..

Not sure what would be out that way for your degree, but lots of jobs like those at casinos and the are always hiring.

Hell my wife uncle is a head waiter at one of the Wynns resturants and makes crazy money.

I'm in this exact situation (although currently employed and have a mortgage) and considering cashing out and heading to L.A.

Starting salary at these positions is $12 or 13/ hour. They aren't going to hire a PhD for those positions because they know he won't last long there.
