There is a distinction to be made between the conservative play calling and how complicated the whole playbook, checks and calls are. I remember hearing both Gary Daniekson and John Gruden talk about how we were running a true pro offense last year, with WR route trees and hot route adjustment calls just like you would see on Sundays. While the offensive staff may have watered things down for Jennings and Harris, I'm sure they still have a lot to keep straight out there.

You know what they say. Thinking too much on the football field makes you slow down and play passively. It takes time to get comfortable handling all that to the point where it is automatic. It is certainly possible that complexity of the overall system is bogging both of them down.

Yeah LSU runs a pro offense, a type which is generally regarded as being complex compared to the spreads.

Plus the fact that the only QBs to run it well under Miles have been juniors or seniors makes it seem too complex to me. We'll never see a redshirt fresh or soph QB run it successfully, so therefore we have bad offenses most years.
