It never said they lost the money.
However:
So the entire stop that lead to the seizure was based on claims by the trooper that either can’t be verified or are clearly contradicted by dash-cam video.
Even if they were moving ill gotten currency, the above gets it suppressed.

It did say they spent $30,000 in legal fees. How much of that went to the MJ charge, I don't know, and the author is certainly biased. However, there are a lot of stories like this. Especially in Tennessee.
