Complying with unlawful orders is disrespectful to the community. It only encourages further unlawful behavior.
Your actions are more harmful to society.

amazing how that works isn't it? and yes, it was the couple in the car that instigated that whole thing. just show your damn license, answer a question and be on your way. shite it's not rocket science. just be polite and cordial and your out a couple minutes at most.
Polite and cordial go both ways, so does honesty and integrity both of which the cop showed nothing of. Everybody wants there freedom but so many of you want to let it be taken away little by little. The cop was wrong and infringed on their rights, bottom line. You want to show your license? That's why cops continue to do this, b/c 9/10 people don't know their rights and don't care so long you can fill up you cars with gas and go shopping.
Got this off a LEO forum, apparently a cops answer to a question about passenger showing ID during traffic stop. LINK / Pretty sad if that's a general POV for ANY LEO.
"I always ask for it. Now they don't have to comply but its not my job to inform them of that. I seem to find a lot of passengers with warrants by checking their driving status so dudes car don't get towed. I offer it as a public service. Kinda like "Hey I'm gonna have to tow your pals car. Let me check your status and maybe we can save him a few bucks if he lets you drive it away". Works every time. They think they are doing their friend a favor and it will keep the two of them from walking. Sometimes the driver will tell his passenger to give up his Id so I don't tow his car."

That whole situation was bullshite. First they won't tell him why they were stopped, then they try to get him out of the car because he "looks like somebody that has warrants". When the cop finally does give him a reason that they were stopped, AFTER having a dog go around the car, they tell him it was because they didn't have their lights on?
The people defending these cops are retarded. They had no justifiable reason to stop these people in the first place and then started making up shite as they went along. Holding him for obstructing justice? What fricking justice? For obstructing a bullshite traffic stop and threatening to take away someone's child?
frick the police.

lol, no i was taught what respect was to another human being and how to communicate well with others. Jesus Christ, it's like some of you people never had any interaction with others growing up and manners was not something anyone bothered to teach you

hell i know people who have been pulled over because they were driving a vehicle that matches a stolen one. No the cops are not going to come out and tell you that is why you were pulled over. BUT if you comply they get their answers and find you that it was a mistaken vehicle, which is much easier when the person pulled over is just honest and answers SIMPLE questions. NOT get defensive from the start.

Where was he impolite? BC not following an older doesn't equal poor manners.

So you have no problem being randomly stopped and not being told why? The police can do whatever the frick they want to you and you'll just be Mr. Polite?

We have no rights left in this country.

if you get pulled over, there is a reason. Maybe you or the vehicle you are in match the description of someone they are looking for. They aren't going to volunteer that info right out and have you run.

I'm so glad this guy took a video. He would have no case without it.
Now he should sue the frick out if this department. This is clear overreach and unlawful detainment, let alone unlawful arrest.

From what he says at the beginning of the video it sounds like they had been there for a little while before he started filming. He mentioned that they had his wife's license for a while... at least long enough to call in another patrol unit.
If they ran his wife, found nothing wrong, and didn't even have a legitimate reason as to why they stopped them then why shouldn't he be defensive?
After they found nothing with his wife they came to his side with "you look like a guy with warrants... give us your ID and step out of the car"
It's all bullshite.
Posted on 10/6/14 at 9:05 am to cleetus
Meh. Handing over his id to prove he wasn't the person who had outstanding warrants, even though he looked like him, would have been easier. But he wasn't legally obligated to do so and his decision to demand the officers follow the law doesn't equal bad manners.

People defending this police action sicken me.
I hope you go to jail one day on a routine traffic stop.
