That's the point I'm making...you develop them but LSU markets this silly 3 and done. It's killing us in attrition so if they're going to go with that plan they need to recruit better.

What about this year when we don't have a lot of guys leave early? Do we stop recruiting as hard and are able to take more project guys.

I am not trying to be a dick. But I swear some fans would rather us not have NFL caliber guys. It is a different college game than even 10 years ago. Recruiting is not the problem, development is not the problem, we just got hit in a bad year, when we are extremely young and most importantly inexperienced.

Why is it silly to market to kids whose dream is to play in the NFL, oh we are the best at getting guys to the league and we have sent more guys early than anyone else. Your strategy would be to tell guys hey I am really sorry but I will need you to stay all 4-5 years, no leaving early. I am sure our recruiting would sky rocket then.

You think our coaches prefer losing players after 3 years? The NFL brought this on us with the wage scale, not our staff pitching it. Our staff is just trying to make the most of it by saying we have done it better than anyone else.

Of course they would sign 25 blue chips a year if they could. Not sure where you're going with that. The answer IS to take a few project guys you can count on being in the system for at least 4 years to compensate for the turnover. Some pan out, and some don't, which is exactly what you're seeing with the LBs this year.

In fact your OP is a perfect illustration. This year, the studs just aren't there, so if we do sign some LBs we'll slow play them, pick the ones that can hopefully be developed, and sign Joyner next year.
