The music was excellent and revolutionary.
The art was garbage. I don't understand how anyone would say otherwise.
The cultural ethos was neutral. Some of it was good (the breakdown of racial barriers and the rise of second-wave feminism). Some of it was crap (the breakdown of the nuclear family and the explosion in hardcore narcotic use).
