Middle LB - What should we expect

It looks like there have been 3 prime areas of concern thus far on the 2014 team..
1) QB - Has been addressed.
2) Interior DT - Godchaux coming alone, Bain getting playing time, Herron looking to get time, and even Valentine may actually get cleared. We have 10 DT's on the roster, but the starters and depth thus far have been the worse since the late 90's duldrum days. We have what we have and it is now a matter of good fortune and playing the more skilled guys from this point onward.
3) Middle LB
Welter is a great kid with great character and said to be the leader to get people in the right place/call. Beckwith is much more athletic and skilled, but is said to not have the leadership and competency that Welter is credited to with the coaching.
I am wondering what people are thinking and expecting in terms of starting and playing time and variations.
The Mike is incredibly important against the spread. Poor angles and bad decisions and speed issues can result in long runs.
What are the rant-heads thinking about this area?

Move LF7 to MLB

Maybe a little bit more 3-4 with bechwith at the other mlb spot. It would help with one less DT on the field and give us more athletes, we just need one if the linemen to get penetration to free up our talented LBs to mane the play. Adams will help a lot too in the secondary

Do people not realize that Welter was suspended for pretty much the entire 2012 season??
If Welter plays half the snaps, we are screwed.

Anybody have stats for 31 and 52 last Saturday night?
Played about same number of snaps it seemed.
TIA

Why would anyone expect other than what we've been seeing?

Godchaux coming alone
Probably going to at least need Rasco with him.

sounds like Beckwith might get more playing time this weekend

Raj Prashad, FanBuzz Writer:
"The No. 15 LSU will take the field Saturday with an upset on its mind as the Tigers face off against No. 5 Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
With the contest standing as LSU’s premier matchup thus far in the young season, head coach Les Miles will pull out all the stops. That could mean changes coming at middle linebacker, with sophomore Kendell Beckwith getting more snaps ahead of senior D.J. Welter."
The athletic Beckwith appears to be the perfect match for Auburn’s high-octane offense. The sophomore is quicker, more instinctive and more familiar when it comes to the read-option, a play Auburn loves to run."

Why can't Welter yell in the alignments from the sidelines?
Seriously, how hard can it fricking be for everyone to line up correctly. Welter telling them where to be is NOT working!

Unfortunately, with Welter, what we've seen thus far, a giant hole.

a bunch of running into the blocker, and a bunch of missed tackles...but our D will be organized!

You can bet Auburn is preparing and game planning to gouge LSU's middle and probably licking their lips anticipating the expected starting lineup.

We SHOULD expect welter to be the 3rd string MLB. What actually happens remains to be seen.
