How do you know who is best if they don't play each other at the end of season. I am sure you thought Alabama was better than Utah and Oklahoma before they played in the Sugar Bowl.

agree completely...and since all div 1 teams cannot possibly play every other div 1 team every year to flush that out, there has to be another way using things like records and strength of schedule...
that is exactly what we had with the BCS system...
now what we have is a secret comittee that will decide who the best 4 teams are based on some unknown set of criteria...
