Expectations too high?

I know we have been the greatest, have one of the best venues, best fans, best recruits, best coaches, and are one of the greatest college football programs in the history of college football, but do our year-to-year "expectations" of being this each year cause us to become this "rant" and eat our own and each other?
We lost a pretty good QB, a great RB, and our 2 best combination receivers of all time, not to mention the other 6, 7, or 8 starters that left early(again). We lost more than half our starters from a team that went 10-3. Our "next year" QBs rarely got quality snaps during the year.
I think part of it is our need to avenge 1/9, and until that happens, our young teams/players/coaches will have to suffer this wrath.
If we lower our expectations a little, it might be possible for them to overachieve.

That's nice. A&M lost more than that...and they have the #2 ranked offense in the country.

Kenny Hill had less experience than Jennings coming into the year, and media outlets are promoting him as a Heisman candidate.
The expectations can never be too high at a place like this. If anything, you don't want the expectations to slip.
Other teams lose plenty of talent each year to the NFL as well, although I don't see Alabama fans begging for an 8-4 finish this year...

Is not getting blown out by MS State at home at night too high of expectations? Is seeing some creativity, flexibility, and action from the coaching too high of an expectation?
Expectations will always be too high most of the time in any sports. The criticism this staff is facing is legitimate and isn't some brand new problem. It's like after 2008 Miles is terrified to risk turnovers from the QB spot is content to live and die by a predictable and safe offense which results in lots of punts and low points and puts pressure on the defense. Miles has been able to get away with this in the past because LSU fielded some unbelievable defenses, but if you couldn't see that his management of the offense back then was equally problematic then you were blind. Anyone could see this coming as soon as the defense took a step back, which was inevitable.
And lots of people predicted a few losses this season, expectations are often within reason. We looked absolutely terrible Saturday night, and barring the last few minutes of the game, in which Harris and an opening of the offense sparked the scoring, we got our butts kicked by MISSISSIPPI STATE. Albeit the best version of MS. State we've seen in some time, but the performance was inexcusable.

With the talent we had last year we should of beat Ole Miss and Georgia and maybe had a shot at the NC. Every team loses talent to the nfl every year and theres no excuse for us to get demolished by state like that at HOME.
How about, is our coaches salary too high?

I expected 3 or 4 losses this year. I didn't expect to get dominated at home, at night, by an unranked, significantly less talented team. Miles is good for at least one shite show of a bed wetting to an inferior team practically every year. That's not a trait of great coaching.

I expected 9-3 before the year. I didn't expect to be dominated in every phase of the game by MSU when LSU effectively had 3 weeks to start installing a gameplan. There's a difference (for me at least) in hitting a W/L expectation and seeing improvements fundamentally and seeing some energy on both sides of the ball.

People are tired of seeing the damn gumps simply reload and Les not keeping pace. People are also tired of his damn stupid arse offensive mind set which resembles the offense we ran in High School in 1985.

No. LSU didn't come this far to set their sights on mediocrity. Fans and supporters of LSU rightfully should demand excellence from their Football program. What they saw on the field Saturday night was an abysmal performance from a team who looked unmotivated, unprepared, and out-matched by a perennial cellar-dweller in their conference division. There are numerous reasons why that happened and has been discussed at nausea on this board. Expectations are to compete for an SEC Championship every year thereby getting you into the playoff, PERIOD.
