If this is the mentality, as embarrassing as it may be on one's home field, then why in the hell do you take a friggin' timeout at all????? I don't typically bash the coaching staff, but seriously, there's no rational way of defending this decision, or lack thereof.

I didn't see it as that complicated of a situation. MSU had all their time outs, LSU didn't want them to get the ball back. So they stop the clock with 3 seconds left to run a play that is very safe but may break for a big score.
