Just Another Mike the Tiger Rant

We have a live Begal Tiger mascot on campus at a time when political pressure will be mounting for us to get rid of it. While I agree it was awesome to have him in the trailer in Tiger Stadium, we no longer live in a world where the vet school folks can cattle prod his arse in there and force the issue.

Now...the question then becomes...would you rather risk forcing him in there and incur the wrath of every major animal rights group that will pressure LSU into abandoning having the live Tiger on campus or accept that there will be times where the cat simply won;t go in the cage willingly?

Frankly...I'd prefer to simply forgo this tradition of having him in stadium (as much as I LOVED IT) in favor of having him in his habit roaming around on game days so fans can actual see him! We now get the worst of both worlds because they keep him penned up on game days hoping he'll get in his trailer...and if he doesn't he's a no show both there and in his yard.

How can they make us get rid of it? He won't get in the trailer, so obviously he ain't going anywhere.

On a serious note....and while most will not get my above rant as somewhat a tongue-in-cheek statement of missing " the good old days", I think LSU has a case as to why we take better care of a live tiger than most zoos. I do not see LSU ever losing the ability to keep a live mascot. We are not Southern, who kept that poor jaguar in a cage smaller than the cab of my truck. ( Notice they haven't even tried to get a new cat).

No, I just kinda threw that up to get everyone bitching about something besides the team, Miles, etc. I do miss the old days....perhaps that is one of the first signs of getting old.
