I understand that not everyone is going to like this kind of movie, but I think people who are trying to compare this movie to real life are missing the point. Much like Pulp Fiction, this is not a movie to take literally. It's a bizarre story that's meant take us for a ride. It's fiction. A man can't fly in real life, and yet we have countless movies and works of fiction representing that. This is fiction and meant to be entertaining. It's meant to be a unique form and style of story telling.

Generally I would agree with this line of thinking, but -
Detective Boney's investigation of the case was thorough, ongoing and meticulous, realizing the staging of the crime scene and bits of evidence right off the bat. She was ultimately fooled along with the media and all of us and for it to be - oh well, she got away with it, is somewhat insulting to her character. And the whole scene, as mentioned here previously, about the FBI questioning Amy and her returning home still covered in blood was, to put it mildly, eye rolling - because up until that point, it was "real".
That being said, I don't think I have hated a character more than Amy in any movie. Enjoyed the movie, with my favorite characters being Margo and Detective Boney. Fincher, as usual, at the top of his game, but Zodiac remains my favorite film of his.
