Sucks for Jeter that he can't tough it out for one more year.
2015 is when A-Rod rides back in for the rescue.

Jeter did it for a money spending team with the largest market.
Ironically, they never could win once they started spending a ton of money :/
Paul O'Neill was the heart and soul of those Yankees teams. Funny that he won titles with Jeter and Larkin.

God I loved O'Neill.

Darryl Strawberry platooning in 96 or 97

But truth be told, Jeter had way more chances to win because of the money being spent by his team.

Same. Such a great ballplayer.
He stole 22 bases in his final season. A career high. He was 38 years old.

Dude was money in 98.

Of course. Any team can win, no matter the market. However, you need money to win consistently, in almost every case. I've always said that.
Although, Minnesota sort of disproves that. And Tampa more recently.

Yeah, but O'Neill was in the lineup pretty much every day from 1993-1999. Truly a great player.

Biggio wasn't quite that bad but still a pretty bad season from a guy that owned most franchise records.
.251 AVG
.285 OBP
.381 SLG
.666 OPS
71 OPS+
-2.1 WAR

Still the prettiest swing in Mlb history imo

Straws body type made for a beautiful swing. It just...flowed.

Who's your fav currently? I always love to catch Braun batting although he's been off this year

Also, Jeter's swing made him due for a quick decline at the end of his career.
His season two years ago was amazing, all things considered. However, when you heard scouts saying in spring training this year that his bat speed was way down, this was inevitable. He managed to hover around .275 for a lot of the season, which was pretty amazing in itself.
He's got an inside-out swing that revolved around him driving the ball the other way, even on inside pitches. If you don't have bat speed, that's almost impossible to do. When pitchers missed out over the plate (especially up in the zone), he was able to hit the ball hard to the opposite field this year. But if pitchers ran him inside or kept it low and away, he really struggled (as expected).
He's never really hit the ball hard to left in the last five or six seasons. Now that his hands have slowed down, he's had to cheat a little bit and has found himself out in front of a lot of pitches, resulting in a lot of slow rollers to the left side.
It's hard to make an adjustment in a swing you've had for your entire life. Everyone loses bat speed, but it's affected him a lot more than others.

I always think he and will Clark's swing are overrated but I know I'min the minority on that

That was an interesting post - most of the gidps I saw were softly hit to just left or just right of 2nd base so I totally picture what you're saying

Just kidding. Sorta.

I'm a sucker for fluid lefty swings, so I always like to watch guys like Josh Hamilton (even though he sucks now) swing the bat.
To take it a step further, I LOVE Anthony Rizzos swing.
