the fact that we got over it should be accepted, people should stop trying to re-write history to suit their own own interpretation

Huh?

Look, I'm sure your parents were good people and you turned out to be a good person, but we should embrace the progress we've made in the last 20-30 years. Parents should discipline their children, and they should do it consistently. That is most important.

If you have to hit a 4 year old 10-15 times with a switch, it should be obvious that your style of parenting is failing miserably.

Exactly. If we never adapted to the way the world changes, we'd be a bunch of idiots.

Just like our parents had to adapt to things like racism not being okay and gender equality and etc., we have to adapt to changes as well.

Your parents beat you. Great. You're still "normal". Great. But in today's world, it's not as acceptable.. and definitely not to a child who can't even read/write yet.

jumped back to this thing late, had to go beat my kids before sending them off to bed without supper, but I'm not advocating beating kids these days, I realized that that wasn't the way to go when I had kids, it's just the way it was when I was a kid, where I was from when I was a kid, it didn't scar me,
