People leave because:
-the contest is won
-their kids are tired
-their hangover is hurting
-don't feel like waiting through the too long halftime
-can't buy booze in the stadium
-want some sex
-its hot, its cold
-seats are cramped
-maybe beat the traffic
But most people don't leave when we play a competitive team. Simple.

bullshite.
West Virginia, 2010. WVU was ranked 22nd. The game was close throughout. Stadium wasn't anywhere near full in the 4th quarter. The TV commentators even commented on it.
Same year....We are leading Mississippi State 12-7 in the 3rd quarter. Many have already departed the stadium in an SEC game that was within one score.
Traffic or not, people just don't stay for the entire game unless it is Alabama.
