I used to be in amazing shape. I was 5'10 185# and strong and cut. 6 pack, 1240 bench/squat/deadlift combo, 5:30 mile time. For sure best shape of my life.

That was 4 months ago, though. The last four months I've hit the gym 3-4 times a week maybe, half-assing it when I went. My diet went to shite for most of the time, lots of bad food and LOTS of alcohol. And the last month of that, I haven't worked out at all because of an injury. Now, I'm 200 pounds, little bit of a beer gut, definitely out of shape. Would guess my numbers, especially cardio, are way worse now and not even close.

I'm a very impatient person, but I'm getting back to my old good routine of workouts/dieting that got me to where I was. So I'm kind of wondering how long it is gonna take me to get back to close to where I was? 24 so I'm hoping my youth helps me make gains quickly. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated

you can get back down to 185 in a month with the right diet. I have no clue on muscle building though.

6 inches too short for the OT. What's your ACT score?

29, not even in the 30's. I know I don't measure up to the OT, and I'm ok with that. I came here to get a feel for things from the perspective of you gods

2-3 months without half assing and you'll be back where you were prior.

Honestly as far as your lifts go I would take it light for the first four weeks. Go from 60% up to 75% in five percent increments. Then after that you should do a one rep max out on the squat bench and deadlift. After that I would suggest a periodization strength training program such as 5/3/1, starting strength etc. give yourself 12 weeks.

Depends on how strict you are…you sound like you're in the same position as me…I went to brazil in June and was in pretty good shape when I left…now I quit working out and started eating shitty…I gained 10 pounds since June…but I just re-started p90x3 on Monday.

If I am super strict and only drink twice a week, I should be back to where I was in about 4 to 6 weeks. if I don't watch my diet, but workout 6 days a week then it'll take me the full 90-day program just to get back to where I was

Well I used to be very discipline. Drank 3-4 times a month maybe. Ate really well (probably 3-4 cheat meals a week but I was already in great shape and worked out hard so it didn't effect me)

I plan on a basically detox 3 weeks. No alcohol, no cheat meals. 150g Complex carbs( as little sugar as possible), 200g protein- for 3 weeks straight

I have a cheat meal MAYBE once a month. Hardly ever drink anymore, maybe once every 4 months.

I used to be like you guys, as strict as one could be. Looked great, felt great... But am in the same spot.

My problem lies with being a recluse vs. having a social life and is it worth all the work to get back so little. How do you balance the social life with all this strict dieting and being a gym rat and what are you getting from being that extreme in return??
