Thanks. I'm just looking for something to get me to and from work for the most part. Also needs to have enough room for a family of four. I'm not concerned with bells or whistles really. Radio and AC is pretty much all I ask for. Just need something reliable with descent gas mileage.

You mind if I asked what you paid?

I was around $300 below invoice for the 2014 Outback Premium with navigation but that includes a dealer added trailer hitch. This was in June. I also got 0% for 60 months. I don't remember the exact number, but it was around $28,000.

You can probably get a better deal now.

I don't think Subaru is known for fuel economy.

It doesn't have to be a Prius, just better than what I have now.

Bought an Outback back in February. I had an Audi before and hated the maintenance and repair costs. I'm loving my Outback so far. I haven't had one problem with it, get 32/25 mpg, and can take it a lot more places than I could take my Audi.

Parts are readily available and inexpensive. Preventative maintenance and one brake job is all I had to do on mine in 10 years.

OP, I have had a WRX for about a year. Love it. Step on the gas it goes. I did drive a '14 crosstrek loaner with 10 miles on it. I wasnt impressed. It had the CVT trans. I don't know what those sell for but if its 17ish would be about the right price.

They don't have a car over $26.5K. That's surprising and cool.

Speaking from experience....going from a full sized truck to a large four wheel drive wagon is not a hard transition.

You may want to consider something like the new 2015 Chevy Colorado or the Grand Cherokee if you have more rigorous towing needs and won't be keeping your old Ford around. For occasional towing, the Outback is fine.
