Honestly, I'd like to see a 3rd and 6 conversion where we complete an 8 yard pass instead of going for the deep ball. However, I do understand that it may have been a gameplan thing playing matchups with our receivers against the SHSU corners. If they were locked up with no safety help, I can see why we'd go for it all.

So his completions to Diarse against Wisconsin.

Diarse against Wisconsin along the left sideline. Completed it about a yard short, and Diarse bulled his way to the first down.

Honestly, I'm happy with going deep in those situations for that very reason. If we force them to back those safeties off then our underneath passing game and the run game are more viable options in those situations. I would love to see Jennings (or Harris) challenge the secondary deep every time the defense creeps the safeties up in the box.

This. I hope we work on that some this week. A good example is the 3rd Q this past week where Jennings went deep to Dural on 3rd and long. Diarse was open on the crossing route for the 1st. Instead, incomplete, we punt.

The deep ball is great once in a while, but sustaining drives needs to be a priority.

You make a good point Choup. Right now, everyone is giving us a look that dictates a vertical passing game. The proof is in the results. When LSU has completed its passes, they have been big hitters because the opponents are taking a prove it to me approach. This look, however, plays to Jennings' strength. His deep ball is actually his best asset. I actually think the best way to defend Jennings at this point in his career is to pinch him in the pocket and drop 8.
