The cables you pull today probably will be obsolete in a decade anyway.

Here is how I dealt with that issue. The outlet boxes that are dedicated to networking/audio/ video have plastic conduit running from the outlet box up through the wall to the attic. Makes it east to pull new cables in the future if technology changes or to accommodate new equipment. Cost of doing it was very little.

What I wish I had done was place the water hose connections on the outside of the house around 4 feet off the ground to avoid squatting or bending over to make a connection, at least around the garage and patios/deck areas.

I always enjoy this threads. Bookmarked this one a few months ago. It was pretty good.

Thread from OT - Sorry about Mobile Link

From my list:
Backup generator (or at least wired)
Double Ovens
Plywood in walls for hanging Pictures/TVs
Switched Outlets in your eaves for holiday decorations
Pot fill by cooktop
Ice Maker
Wired home for surround/cat5/etc
Dedicated AV cabinet
Dedicated place/circuit for extra freezer/fridge

I could go on....

Copper is copper.

Now I would be leery of wiring lots of HDMI all over the place because of its closed standard setup....but Ethernet is already 30 years old.

And I doubt CAT6 will be obsolete from a home perspective in the next 50 years.
