I posted this over on score board just now. I thought it might be relevant here.
If I may suggest, a Gin Buck (Moscow Mule's Daddy) or a Bourbon Buck (the Mule's uncle) would be really nice alternatives. With the ginger beer and lime the juniper in the gin becomes a complimentary flavor for those who hate on gin. The cocktail itself blows the mule out opf the water. For the record, the Bourbon Buck is made w/lemon and the Gin Buck w/lime. Both of these predate the Moscow Mule by approx 50 years.

You MUST MUST try one with Maine Root Ginger Brew. You can get it at Whole Foods. It's a very spicy ginger beer. It stomps a mudhole in a weak ginger beer like Goslings.
